Oral Hyaluronic Acid
HA-360 is designed to support the body’s natural joint protection system by providing Hyaluronic acid to ensure your horse can meet the levels required. Hyaluronic acid, which is produced by the body and provided through diet , is a key component of synovial fluid. This viscose solution is responsible for reducing the friction between articular cartilage during movement. The high molar mass of hyaluronic acid is what creates the viscosity needed for synovial fluid to act as a lubricant protecting the cartilage. [1,3,4]
Hyaluronic acid is the central filament the body uses to create proteoglycans, which are intertwined with the collagen network. Proteoglycans are negatively charged which allows then to keep large amounts of water inside the cartilage. This water content is important for the resilience and elasticity of cartilage tissue allowing it to absorb much of the force exerted on the joints.
