Equi-Kelp is an all natural liquid seaweed (not from seaweed meal), containing one of the largest range of minerals, phytochemicals and beneficial organic trace elements of any land plant.

Equi-Kelp’s liquid seaweed is manufactured from the stems of fresh storm cast kelp and stabilised into an alkaline solution to render the alginates soluble. This process is all cold water, not steam or high heat to ensure no vitamins or minerals are destroyed. The kelp is of the highest quality which is collected from the shores of the west coast of Tasmania.

Why use liquid Seaweed?
A natural bacterial fermentation process to liquefy the kelp and maximise the seaweed’s high nutrient levels. Digestibility and palatability is increased because the seaweed plant is already broken down by enzymes in the cold liquefying process making all vitamins, minerals, amino acids and elements readily available to the animal’s digestive system therefore requiring less to achieve results.

NO Added Sugar!

With its unique range of phytochemicals and osmoregulatory compounds.
Equi-Kelp can be an invaluable help in enhancing and stimulating gut bacteria essential for the absorption and digestion of nutrients. Unlike other seaweed products Equi-Kelp is formulated to be free from any added sugars allowing it to retains its natural alkaline state.

What’s so bad about added sugar?

Horses were designed to live on fibre. The hind gut is a large fermentation chamber designed to break down the links that hold fibre together. However, when horses are fed high sugar diets, the horses’ enzymes cannot cope and the sugars flood from the small intestines into the hind gut, bringing with it sugar feeding bacteria. These bacteria create an acidic environment, which leads to changes in gut composition, death of fibre ferments and a rise in endotoxins. Problems associated with high sugar diets include:

  •  Ulcers
  •  Cushing’s disease
  •  Exertional Rhabdomyolysis
  •  Polysaccharide Storage Myopathy
  •  Nutritional Laminitis (hoof inflammation)

3 Months ago Conan was stressed and agitated to the point where he lost a lot of weight and developed ulcers. Since treating his ulcers and changing a few things including his diet (which included the addition of EQUI-KElP) he is a changes horse.

He is less stressed and more alert and he listens more to me when i ride. He has a more relaxed nature and his weight has improved (563 Kg) as you can see from the photo
